Ta Da!

I finally finished the nappy, I think it's cute. I still need to get more done but I'll get there.

Oh and I made some decorations for my Christmas tree. Angels, because well, lets face it there were plenty heralding the birth of Jesus. And I made them from fabric so that Gremlin can't smash them, I figure he can learn not to touch them now while they won't shatter into a million pieces.

They are pretty simple to make, I'm even going to get the kids from church to make them at kids club this week. It's just a circle of fabric (I traced around a plate), a styrofoam ball, a piece of felt and gold string. I'll upload a picture of our tree once I unearth our star from the abyss (aka the garage) and track down some lights that aren't weirdly coloured.

Nappies

Why do I use cloth nappies? Do I care about the environment? Not really. Is it because they are better for the baby? Kinda, my kids sometimes break out in nappy-rash with disposables. Is it because I want to show off to all the mum's at playgroup what a fantastic mother I am? Seriously, they know I'm a mess. Is it because it is cheaper? Bingo!

I can't afford to keep buying nappies all the time. And frankly, at this point in my life, what's another few loads of laundry?

I am about to start sewing, some of the cloth nappies I bought Gremlin have started leaking through the waterproof fabric so it's time to make a new set. I've made them before, in fact I'm attempting to get a nappy business off the ground.

I don't need too many because he'll toilet train soon. I'm going to make a few fitted nappies so that Chicken can use them after Gremlin is done with them and I'm going to make at least one pocket nappy. I've got pirate treasure waterproof fabric, microfleece, elastic old absorbent inserts from other nappies and snaps. Here I go...

Here I go again

I have yet again made a vow with myself to keep the house in some sort of order, to go to the gym and attempt to lessen my post-baby belly, to eat healthier and to budget better. Will I accomplish this? Probably not but a girl's gotta dream, right.

I'll do it, I listen to my MP3 player and tidy the house right now! Darn how do I work this thing again???

Howdy

Hello World! This is my blog about me, my family, crafty things I like to do in my spare time, and my general rants on things.

I'm Ziva, I have been married to W@dsy for 5 years, we have two super cute children. Gremlin my boy,  is nearly two and Chicken, my baby girl who is 4 1/2 months old. And yes these are pseudonyms. (I love that word pseudonym.)

Recently I have seen a few of life's oddities:
  • A man riding a penny-farthing (that's one of those bicycles with one really huge wheel and one small one) wearing a hat almost as large as a sombrero
  • An apple in the work freezer
  • and a lone boot in the middle of the road
I am attempting a new recipe today, Lamb stew with buttermilk mash, but I have the feeling that it's not going to fit in the ramekins W@dsy bought today, oh well. And I'm pretty sure Gremlin will refuse to eat it on the grounds that it is not a peanut butter sandwich. I guess you can't have everything.

Toodles,
Ziva
